Our Lady of Victory Church celebrates the Sacrament of Baptism three (3) times a month. (once in English and twice in Spanish). A baptism may also be celebrated at Sunday Mass.
Children up to the age of 6 can be baptized as infants. Children 7 and older need to attend religious education classes prior to baptism.
Since a baptismal certificate is considered a legal document, a copy of the child’s legal birth certificate (issued by the state) is needed.
The parents or legal guardian(s) of the child are the only people who can register the child for the Sacrament of Baptism.
One Sponsor (godparent) is required for the celebration of Baptism. Two (one man and one woman) may be allowed for a good pastoral reason.
To serve as a Sponsor (Godparent), one must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 16 years of age.
Should be attending a Catholic church regularly and participating fully in the sacraments of the Church (i.e. Eucharist and Reconciliation).
Must be a fully initiated member of the Church (i.e. have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation).
If the Sponsor is married, he/she/they must have had their marriage blessed in the Catholic Church.
There is a one-time Baptismal Class that both the parents and Godparents must attend. For those who live outside of the parish, we will accept a certificate or letter stating that you have participated in a similar class in your home parish within the last two (2) years.
Those parents who are not registered members of our parish must request a Letter of Permission from their home parish/pastor to have their child baptized at Our Lady of Victory Parish.
We have different styles of baptismal ceremonies:
• Group baptism: $50 per family (siblings living at the same address). Registration stipend to be paid at the time of registration.
• Baptism at a public Sunday Mass: $100/one family (siblings living at the same address). Registration stipend to be paid at the time of registration.
• Private Baptism: $250/one family (siblings living at the same address). Dependent on celebrant’s schedule and availability of the church or chapel.
A non-refundable deposit of $125 is required at the time of registration.
• Private Baptism within a private Mass: $500/one family (siblings living at the same address). Dependent on celebrant’s schedule and availability of the church. A none-refundable deposit of $250 is required at the time of registrataion.

Diocese of Fresno Policy for Infant Baptism
Infants should be baptized soon after birth, but sufficient time is necessary for proper instruction.
Children who are seven (7) years of age or older must receive instruction in the Church before being baptized (cf adult baptism)
The ordinary place for baptism is the parish church of the parents.
The parents or legal guardian(s) must request baptism.
There must be founded hope that the child baptized will be brought up in the Catholic religion .
Godparents must have received Baptism, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist, should be at least 16 years of age, and should be practicing Catholics who are able to give the example of a good Catholic life. There are normally to be two godparents, one man and one woman.
A baptized non-Catholic may not be a godparent but may be a Christian Witness to the baptism, as long as there is one practicing Catholic godparent.
Baptism is not to be conferred until parents and godparents have attended pre-baptismal instruction. The responsibilities of parents and godparents are to be reviewed, as well as preparation for the celebration of the Rite of Baptism.
